Mamula island is located at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. It is only 3.4 nm away from Herceg Novi. This small islet is 200m in diameter and its original name was the Swallow. During the Venetian Republic it was called Rondon, and was given its current name after the Austrian general Mamula in the mid-19th century. During World War I and II the fort on the island was used as a prison. Diving around the island is a divine experience since extreme azure color of the sea is coupled with beautiful flora and fauna.
